Folio enables you to add Insights that you have made or Insights that have been shared with you as snapshots to any of your dashboards.
The benefits of Insight snapshots are that:
- You can customise your dashboards with your own charts that you have created as Insights
- You can also create visual reports by exporting dashboards as PDF . These PDF’s, which include a combination of built in snapshots and Insights snapshots, create rich reporting for your Management and Boards.
- A super user can also add Insight snapshots to Dashboard access roles creating customised dashboards for different users across the organisation. Add link
To add Insight snapshots onto a dashboard click on the Add Snapshot button visible on the top right hand side of the dashboard screen.
When you click the button, a screen will appear with a selection box for adding your own Insights or any Insights shared with you.
Once you’ve selected the snapshots and Insights you want to add to the dashboard, click Add. All selected snapshots and Insights will then be added to the dashboard.

For Insights that have been added to a dashboard there are a few more options under the menu for these snapshots
Settings
All Insight filters are available on an Insight Snapshot. Any changes you make will only impact your Insight Snapshot, they do not apply to the Insight itself. However you cannot change the Chart Type or any Chart Settings (Based on, Segmented By, Sort, View etc) of the original Insight.
Please note: All changes to the original insight will apply to the insight snapshot as long as a user has not changed their Insight Snapshot filters. They can reset the insight snapshot to the current Insight settings by clicking on Settings, then Reset
Table/Chart
You can click on this to change the snapshot to show the Insight as a Chart or a Table. If you change this then next time you load the snapshot it will remember what you picked.
Save As
Save as on an Insight Snapshot will create a new Snapshot and will also create a new Insight.
Go To Insight
If the original Insight is made by you or shared with you then you will have the option to go to the Insight
