Action Roles explained

Action roles give a user access to actions. An Action Role is made up of Access Rights and Action Categories that these Access Rights relate to. Action roles can be added to a User Profile or assigned directly to a user. 

Please Note: Action Roles must be combined with assignment roles to allow the user to Read assignments, Update or Create assignments. 

Action roles can have the following access rights:

Read	Read	User can Read Actions in selected Action Categories
Update	Read, Update	User can Update Actions in selected Action categories
Create	Read, Update, Create	User can Create New Actions in selected Action Categories
Retire	Read, Update, Retire	User can Retire Actions in selected Action Categories

Action Assignment Roles

Action Assignment Roles give users access rights to action assignments. Action Assignment Roles are made up of Access Rights and Business Units that these Access Rights relate to. Action Assignment roles can be added to a User Profile or assigned directly to a user.

Please Note: Assignment roles must be combined with action roles, a user must be able to Read, Update or Create Actions so that they can assign them.

Please Note: The Business Unit in the Assignment role gives users access to action assignments in that Business Unit AND action assignments where the person responsible is in that Business Unit. 

Action assignments roles can have the following access rights:

Rights	Included Rights	Description
Read	Read	User can Read Action Assignments assigned to: Business Units that they have rights to Person/s responsible from Business Units that they have rights to
Update	Read, Update	User can Update Action Assignments assigned to: Business Units that they have rights to Person/s responsible from Business Units that they have rights to
Create	Read, Update, Create	When Assigning an Action: The Person/s Responsible have to be from the Business Units that the user has rights to.  The Business Unit can be any Business Unit across the Orginisation and is not restricted to the Business Unit that the user has rights to.
Retire	Read, Update, Retire	User can Retire Action Assignments assigned to: Business Units that they have rights to Person/s responsible from Business Units that they have rights to

Example 1

James Smith can read actions in the Compliance Category and can read action assignments in the Marketing Business Unit. Here are some examples of what James Smith can and cannot do:

Actions Result Roles

The Action Result Roles give a user access rights to  Action Results. An action result role is made up of the Action Result access rights, the action categories for which these rights have been provided and the business units that these rights relate to. 

Please Note: A user does not need rights to the action or the assignment to have access rights to the Action Result.

The Action Results access rights a user can have are as follows:

Read	Read	A User can Read Action Results. This right is limited to selected Action Categories and Business Units
Complete	Read, Complete	A User can Complete Action Results. This right gives them the ability to complete action results of other users. The right is limited to selected Action Categories and Business Units
Update Completed Results	Read, Update Completed Results	A User can Update Completed Action Results. This right gives them the ability to update completed results of other users and possibly their own. The right is limited to selected Action Categories and Business Units.  Please note: This access right could mean that the user acquires rights to change their own completed action results.

Anita Svensen can read action results from the Compliance Category for the business unit marketing. Here are some examples of what Anita can and cannot do:
