Setting up a Web Hook
Before being able to send custom notifications to Slack or Microsoft Teams you will have to set up a Web Hook in Folio. To do so click on the Admin gearwheel in the top right of the screen, then on the Admin screen select Integrations:
Then select either Slack or MS Teams:
For Slack
Go to this page on Slacks website: https://api.slack.com/apps/ and follow the instructions for creating a webhook URL. Only steps 1-3 need to be followed, which are to click on the green button that says Create your Slack App and fill out the details on the popup that appears:
Then once you have selecte Create App you will be taken to the Apps page. Click on the square that says Incoming Webhooks:
Then on the next page switch Activate Incoming Webhooks from Off to On:
This will cause some more options to appear lower in this page, so scroll down and then click on the button that says Add New Webhook to Workspace:
On the popup that appear pick a channel that the app will post to, and then click to Authorize your app.
You'll be sent back to your app settings, and you should now see a new entry under the Webhook URLs for Your Workspace section, with a Webhook URL that'll look something like this:
https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00000000/B00000000/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Then take this URL and on the Slack Integration page in Folio select Edit:
Then paste in the Webhook URL and hit Save:
Lastly you will need to select Activate before the integration can be used:
For MS Teams
Login in to your Microsoft Teams account and go to the Apps section:
In the searchbar type in Webhook, then click on Incoming Webhook:
Then select Add to a Team
Search for the Channel you want to add the notification to and click “Setup Connector”:
Setup a name for the webhook, this will be who the webhook is sending messages as in the channel. You can change the name or image later on if you want:
Click Create and then wait for it to reload, then copy the url:
Go to the MS Teams Integration in Folio and click on +Create MS Teams:
Make a name for the integration, and paste in the Webhook URL, then hit Create:
The on the integration is created it will need to be Activated before it can be used.
